Each year, approximately  980,000  candidates—including high school seniors and students seeking to change their career paths—eagerly anticipate the first results from  Parcoursup . As has been the trend for years, the  licence programs  are particularly attractive to applicants. According to a note published by the Ministry of Higher Education on May 26,  70%  of terminale students submitted at least one wish for a licence program. Here’s a focus on the five most sought-after licence programs on Parcoursup in  2025 .

Licence de Droit

Once again, the law field confirms its  popularity . This year, it has attracted nearly  359,728  wishes on Parcoursup, a significant increase of  25,500  from the previous year. The growth at the  Paris-I Panthéon-Sorbonne  law program is particularly striking: “In previous years, we averaged around  14,000 to 15,000  applications. This year, we’ve crossed the  19,500  mark, which is a  25% increase ,” explains  Farhad Ameli , Deputy Director of the Sorbonne School of Law.

According to Ameli, this surge can be attributed to two main phenomena: “There’s a sort of ‘law’ effect, a call of the air: for many, studying law equates to securing financial stability. Some choose this field with no specific project, simply because it keeps all doors open.” Additionally, a notable academic update at Panthéon-Sorbonne is the  condensation of the licence duration  to  two and a half years , allowing students  six months  to study abroad, engage in civic activities, or get involved in research.

Licence en Sciences Économiques

The focus on  economic sciences  continues to gather momentum. This year, more than  170,000  candidates have expressed their interest in enrolling in an economic sciences licence. This rise is not solely due to the program’s reputation but also reflects the  growing demand  for professionals well-versed in economics, especially within a global job market that is increasingly competitive. Programs such as those offered by  HEC Paris  and  University Paris-Dauphine  are particularly sought after.

Licence en Sciences de Gestion

Management sciences have also seen a steady increase in interest, with over  150,000  applications noted for licenses in this area. These programs equip students with vital management and organizational skills essential for  leadership roles  in various sectors. The  IÉSEG School of Management  and  ESCP Business School  stand out as desirable destinations for students looking to pursue this path.

Licence en Informatique

With technology permeating every aspect of life, the  licence in computer science  is increasingly appealing. This year, it has drawn  over 120,000  applicants eager to delve into the world of programming, data analysis, and artificial intelligence. Institutions like  École Polytechnique  and  University Pierre et Marie Curie  are among the top choices, reflecting the burgeoning interest in tech-related fields.

Licence en Psychologie

A growing number of students are also turning towards the field of  psychology . The demand for professionals who understand mental health and well-being continues to rise, leading to  over 80,000 applications  for psychology licenses this year. Renowned universities like  University Paris 5  and  University Lyon 2  are popular among these aspiring students.

In conclusion, the landscape of higher education in France remains vibrant, with  licence programs  seeing increasing interest from students. With options ranging from law to psychology, the choices available cater to a broad spectrum of career aspirations and academic interests. As future professionals, these young adults embark on their educational journeys, the programs at their disposal are more varied and compelling than ever. The future landscape of education promises to evolve continually, ensuring that students are well-equipped for the challenges ahead, both academically and professionally.
