15 November 2023 at 14:01 The first Norwegian citizens are out of the Gaza Strip – I am very happy that the first Norwegian citizens have now arrived safely on the Egyptian side of the border at Rafah. We are continuing our work to the full so that the other Norwegian citizens can also soon be safe, says Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre in a press release from the government. Earlier, the Foreign Ministry stated that more than 250 Norwegians are in the Gaza Strip. Last night, 51 Norwegian citizens were told that they could leave Gaza, via the border crossing at Rafah. The border opened today at 08:00. – We have worked around the clock since 8 October to ensure that the Norwegian citizens would be allowed to get out of Gaza. There are no safe places in Gaza, and everyone who is there is exposed to traumatic experiences. Today we are relieved that some Norwegian citizens have crossed the border. At the same time, we must continue our work for everyone who is still in Gaza. It is a humanitarian disaster, which also affects Norwegian citizens. The acts of war must stop and humanitarian aid must be allowed in, says Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide.
