The fire service in Oslo is under pressure about water damage – news Oslo and Viken – Local news, TV and radio

It has been a hectic day at the Kastellet fire station on Nordstrand in Oslo. Because while the fire crews had to rush out to flooded basements all over the place, their own basement was filled with water. – We have been working non-stop since last night, and we are still working, says acting fire marshal Magne Finholth. This is what it looked like last night in the basement of the fire station. Approaching 2,500 calls While the water trickled into the downstairs of the fire station, the phone rang continuously. The 110 central received close to 2,500 calls within a short time last night, from people who had problems in connection with the torrential rain. – Unfortunately, we cannot help everyone and must prioritize strictly, they wrote on X/Twitter. Then all equipment had to be flushed and disinfected in the backyard. Fans in the basement will probably need to work for a few days. Then there was even more water, says the emergency manager. Assisted over 60 addresses The fire service states that they have assisted over 60 addresses with the help of fire crews with special expertise in residual value rescue from Nedre Romerike, Øvre Romerike and Fredrikstad. They still have many resources in both Oslo, Asker and Bærum to help. Despite the fact that the fire crew at Kastellet had their own flood to deal with, the emergency manager is clear on what has been most important. – We have to help residents in the district, says Finholth.
