Mahsa Amini was stopped by the morality police in September last year, who accused her of wearing the hijab incorrectly. The police took her to the station for a “reprimanding interview” on 13 September. Here she suffered severe head injuries and ended up in a coma. She was pronounced dead three days later. The 22-year-old’s death triggered huge demonstrations against the Iranian regime around the world. Strong international sanctions were introduced against the morality police.
