27 September 2023 at 17:14 The electoral board recommends a re-election in Østfold The county election board in Viken has today recommended that a re-election should be held in Østfold following an electoral error. The ballot papers for the Industrial and Business Party (INP) were missing from a polling station in Moss for seven hours on election day. After the votes in the county had been counted, INP was only seven votes short of securing an additional mandate in the county council in Østfold at this year’s election. Four days after the election, INP complained about the missing ballots. The matter is now on the table of the Ministry of Local Government and Districts (KDD). If INP’s appeal is upheld, there will be a by-election in the municipal and county council elections for the first time in 40 years.
