On Wednesday morning, the electoral board in Bergen municipality approved the election results. The results of the election show that a large number of personal votes and sloppiness lead to the list-filling candidates Raudt veteran Torstein Dahle and Høgres Martin Smith-Sivertsen getting a place in the city council. But after the meeting of the electoral board, it has become clear that Smith-Sivertsen cannot be elected in Bergen because he is not registered there. Although Smith-Sivertsen was registered in Bærum, he has been in 46th place on the electoral list for Høgre in Bergen. With 629 votes and 339 personal votes, he was promoted to 11th place in the election. Now he still loses his place in the city council. – I was not aware that I was not eligible. I thought I was eligible as long as I was on the list, and bid in the city until the deadline for when you can vote in Bergen, says Smith-Sivertsen to news. It was BT who first reported the case. Electoral experts believe Bergenslisten can get a new mandate. This means that all the years it has been suspended must be brought back, says Ida Rambech, electoral officer in Bergen municipality. This could have consequences for the Liberal Party’s last mandate in the city council. Despite the fact that Bergenslist got fewer votes than Venstre, Venstre got one more mandate. This comes from the fact that Bergenslisten’s voters have brought up many swindlers. A castaway is a vote for a candidate from a different party than the party you are voting for. Many of these slang years have probably gone to Martin Smith-Sivertsen, who is in favor of building the light rail in a tunnel instead of over Bryggen. This has weakened the number of votes on Bergenslisten. When Smith-Sivertsen is not eligible, these list votes must be transferred back to the party. In this case, it probably means that Bergenslisten will get a good share of the list votes. – All logic suggests that it will be Bergenslisten that will still get this mandate, says election expert Yngve Flo. New meeting of the electoral board The municipality does not yet know how the case will affect the allocation of mandates. – The Norwegian Electoral Directorate must certainly step in and correct the election settlement, says election officer Ida Rambech. The electoral board has now been called to a new meeting on Wednesday afternoon at 5 p.m., according to the meeting calendar on the municipality’s website. The members first received a notice that they will be called in at short notice to approve the election results once more, news is informed. – It is of course unfortunate that it now emerges that there is a new candidate who was not eligible, says Mikkel Grüner, top candidate for SV and member of the electoral board. The family is in the process of moving to London, and that is why I announced the move to Bærum, so that we had a common residence in connection with the move, says the Høgre candidate. – It was my wish to be elected to the city council. Then I wanted to see what would be possible in terms of participation, as I want to be on time both in Bergen and London, says Smith-Sivertsen. Martin Smith-Sivertsen (H) is about to move to London.
