White died at his home in the United States after a short illness, aged 72. He started as a drummer in the band in 1972, four years after frontman Jon Andersen started Yes. White has also previously worked with artists such as John Lennon, George Harrison and Joe Cocker. Yes was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2017
