When the family discovered that he was gone, the dog was reported missing. They searched for the dog for a week, and posted ads on social media. They were a long way from giving up hope when the phone call from Italy came on Tuesday. – As I understood it, it was an Italian couple who had found him wandering around Venice, and who took him to the vet. She thinks Kompis must have been drawn by someone passing by shortly after he disappeared. Now she wants to report the incident to the police, even though the case will probably be dismissed. Karlsen thinks it is difficult to know what happened after the dog was probably drawn. – So whether he is dumped in Italy, or what has happened, is difficult to say. Kompis is a beloved and popular family member. Photo: Marie Nerland Karlsen / Privat/news Must be in quarantine When the phone call came, she thought it couldn’t be true. The first thing she did was to check whether the information was correct. But when the vet sent her a picture of the dog that had been found wandering along the street, the owner had no more doubts. – I woke up and was completely shaking. It was completely unreal. On Wednesday, Karlsen lands in Gardermoen, before she travels on to Italy on Thursday to bring Kompis home. But it will be a costly process to bring the dog home, so the family has started a joint venture to cover some of the expenses. – We have to spend two days in Italy to get the paperwork and vaccines in order. And then we have to take him back to Norway. Here he must be in quarantine for 21 days, before we can pick him up. It will be a long process, but it is worth it, says Karlsen.
