The dictionary did not work – Will have deleted the Nynorsk exam as well – news Norway – Overview of news from different parts of the country

Today it became clear that upper secondary students who had problems logging in to the Norwegian exam on Monday can apply to have the exam cancelled. Now several people think the same should apply to the exam in the side goal last Friday. Even then, many experienced technical problems and delayed start-up. – We had exactly the same problems with the side goal exam. Then it should also be able to be cancelled, says Sarah Christin Svardal at Nordahl Grieg upper secondary school in Bergen to news. – The dictionary didn’t work. She says that they got started too late because of login problems. – When we first started, access to the digital dictionary Lexsin did not work. It could take ten minutes to look up one word. I also couldn’t use Store norske lexikon and the digital teacher’s work, NDLA. Many others in the class had the same problems. It was only towards the end of the six-hour exam, when several students had logged out, that it loosened up. – It was very frustrating. Taking the Nynorsk exam without a dictionary is not very easy. Many show dissatisfaction on TikTok after technical problems during this year’s exam. On TikTok, several students talk about problems with the secondary objective exam. One of the videos has been viewed over 125,000 times and has almost 12,000 likes. Andreas Skeie Jacobsen, who is a student at Elvebakken upper secondary school in Oslo, also believes that the secondary examination should be able to be cancelled. – It’s strange that the main goal is now being canceled because it gets a lot of media attention, while the side goal goes on as normal even though it was where we had the most problems with the aids. REACTS: Andreas Skeie Jacobsen believes that the secondary objective exam should be treated in the same way as the exam in the Norwegian main objective. Photo: Camilla Alexandra Lie / news Must manage without a dictionary In an e-mail to news, the Norwegian Directorate of Education confirms that there were technical problems with the secondary objective exam, but they have not mapped the extent. They write: “Students can always apply for the cancellation of an exam. A lack of access to aids is not enough on its own to get a decision on dispensation from a grade on the diploma.” Sarah Cristin Svardal believes this is not the case: – I think it is bad. When we practice for the exam, we are given a list of sources we can use. We have a right to the aids and take it for granted that we get access to them. The language is a very large part of the assessment basis in Nynorsk. – Do you think it affected your character? – Yes absolutely. It’s really cool. This is beyond my average.
