The deceased in Troms was reported for violence two weeks before he was killed by the police – news Troms and Finnmark

On Friday 9 December, the now deceased 49-year-old in Lavangen contacted the Emergency Medical Communication Center (AMK), which then contacted the police for assistance. During this mission he was shot and killed by the police. The police officers must have experienced the situation as life-threatening. The man is charged with attempted murder, while one of the police employees has the status of a suspect. The incident is being investigated by the Bureau of Police Affairs, with assistance from Kripos. It has now become known that he was reported for violence – two weeks before he was killed. He then allegedly physically attacked a representative of a supervisory organization who was visiting the farm. – It was an audit that did not proceed as it should. It ended very tragically, so to speak, says the head of the organization to news. The case was first discussed in Nordlys. The pictures show the wheel loader that the man was sitting in when he was shot by the police on the night of Friday 9 December. Video: Hanne Wilhelms / news Visiting ban was imposed The organization supervises a number of farms during the year. The supervision of the now deceased Hans Arne Nystad (49) had been notified and accepted. During the inspection, things were pointed out that should be addressed, related to the animal husbandry. – Then he attacked her, says the leader of the organisation. In the situation, he allegedly took both her phone and notes from her. She reported him after the incident, and Nystad was subsequently banned from visiting the woman. The Norwegian Food Safety Authority does not wish to comment on the incident, as this has not occurred in connection with their supervision. This is stated by section manager Hilde Haug. Nor do the police in Troms, by deputy police chief Einar Sparboe Lysnes, want to comment on the incident, apart from confirming that they have received the report. They refer further to the Bureau, which does not wish to comment on an ongoing investigation. The deceased is said to have overturned this police car with the wheel loader that he was driving himself. When the police arrived at the yard, a confrontation ensued which ended with him being shot and killed. Photo: Hanne Wilhelms / news Lawyer John Christian Elden is Nystad’s defender. He says he is not aware of the report from the police. – There is nothing in what the police have leaked to the media that makes any difference to the murder case. The police were only there in the capacity of assisting during a health mission, and without the deceased being suspected of anything, he tells news. – The spread of allegations from the police register to the media, without informing us or the Bureau, is at best a blurring of a serious criminal case in which the police themselves are suspected perpetrators. The police arrived at the scene at approximately 01.40, on the night of Friday 9 December. The now deceased man was in the cab of a wheel loader in the farm yard. The wheel loader came into contact with the police car, causing it to overturn. One officer was in the car when this happened. The other police officer got out of the police car and fired “a large number of shots”. It is not known how many of the shots hit Nystad. The person has status both as offended in the case where Nystad is charged with attempted murder against the police, and as a suspect in the Bureau’s investigation into the shooting incident. People in the local community put out flowers and candles in the aftermath of the incident, which has shaken the sparsely populated municipality of Lavangen in Troms. Photo: Malin Straumnes / news The investigation into Nystad’s alleged attempted murder against the police is being investigated by the Finnmark police district. They had the task transferred from Troms. The reason is that the employee who is considered offended in the case is employed in Troms. Photos from the scene show a police car lying on its side, as well as several bullet holes in the door of the wheel loader. Animal husbandry on the farm has been discontinued. There were 71 cattle on the farm. Some of the animals were slaughtered, while most were relocated and sold on.
