21 July 2023 at 04:05 The Conservatives won the by-election in Boris Johnson’s old constituency The Conservative Party in Great Britain secured the member of parliament from Boris Johnson’s old constituency – but only just. Johnson resigned from Parliament last month and the Labor opposition was favorite to win the seat in the by-election in the conservative bastion of Uxbridge in west London. But Tory Steve Tuckwell managed to secure the seat for his party with 495 more votes than Labor candidate Danny Beales. It did not go as well in the by-election in the Somerton and Frome constituency. There, candidate Sarah Dyke from the Liberal Democrats won an overwhelming victory with a margin of 11,000 votes. She has thereby won the seat from the Conservative Party, which in 2019 had a majority of over 19,000 votes in the constituency. (NTB-Reuters)
