The building collapse at Tretten causes the bypass road to dissolve – news Innlandet – Local news, TV and radio

Many of the trucks are on their way to Tine Meierier in Tretten. Due to the bridge collapse a week ago, they have to detour. On a road that is not designed for heavy lorry traffic. – It is very important that a replacement bridge is in place quickly, says dairy manager Knut Magne Tofte in Tine. He is afraid of accidents and believes that a replacement must be in place before winter arrives. But that is not certain to happen. Dreading the winter Tine dairy is located right by the E6 and Tretten bridge. They depend on good infrastructure to transport goods in and out. Every day, between ten and fifteen lorries come in with milk and drive out with dairy products that are destined for the entire country. But now the E6 is closed, and the bridge they drive over collapsed last week. Therefore, everyone must drive on roundabouts where it is fine for two cars to meet, but not two trucks. AFRAID OF ACCIDENTS: Dairy manager at Tine on TrettenKnut Magnus Tofte is worried about accidents if a replacement bridge is not built. Photo: Inger Johanne Solli / news – It is completely hopeless. It cannot continue, says the dairy manager at Tretten. Only a week after the bypass was put into use, the asphalt on the road has started to loosen. When two lorries meet, one must drive all the way to the edge to allow the other to pass. CROSS: There is almost no room for two trucks in the width of the bypass, so one has to go out on the edge. Photo: Inger Johanne Solli / news It seems. – It will get worse in the winter, says Jan Inge Dendal, who is a driver for Veøy. The truck he drives is 17 meters long and two and a half meters wide. – It will be hopeless by winter, he says. BECOME HOPELESS: Professional driver Jan Inge Dendal is getting by now but fears the winter on the bypass. Photo: Inger Johanne Solli / news Dairy manager Knut Magne Tofte hears the same from all the drivers who drive in and out of his place. Therefore, he believes a replacement bridge must be in place as soon as possible. Can’t promise a replacement bridge The Roads Directorate and the transport department in Innlandet County Municipality are looking at the possibility of getting a replacement bridge in place at Tretten. But it is not easy. – In the worst case, it cannot be solved in a safe way, says the head of transport in Innlandet Aud Riseng. COMPLICATED: Transport manager in the interior, Aud Riseng, says work is being done on the possibility of a replacement bridge. But it is not certain that it will be. Photo: Lars Erik Skrefsrud / news She says that it is very complicated work. They cannot use the facade from Tretten bru, which was built in 2012. The replacement bridge must stand for two years or the time it takes to get a new permanent bridge in place. This means that it must withstand both the autumn and spring floods that Gudbrandsdalslågen is known for. – We have to consider all technical solutions, says Riseng. A group has been put together to plan a new permanent bridge. But it will take at least two years before it is in place. IMPORTANT BRIDGE: The bridge over Lågen and the E6 at Tretten is used a lot by both the local population and the transport industry. But it may take time before a new bridge is in place.
