The “Bergen method” is spreading to all parts of the world – news Vestland

A prayer for help for a son, a spouse or for oneself. Bjarne Hansen’s inbox is full of them. Every time a medium has visited the corner office in Møllendalsbakken in Bergen, letters and e-mails come from people who see the 4-day method as a possible way out of a desperate situation. – It hurts to read. It is often difficult to make them an offer. At the same time, it shows that the work we do is important, says the psychologist, who runs the center “the Bergen 4-day treatment” in Helse Bergen. Bjarne Hansen receives many letters from people who want to fly to Bergen to be treated here. An award from the Kavli Foundation means that he will conduct training in Kenya and Ecuador during the year. From before, the treatment is available in the USA, Germany, Iceland and Singapore and many more countries around the globe. Thus, the Bergen method will be available in all parts of the world. Collaborating with Harvard It has been over ten years since news first told about the treatment method, which makes people recover from mental disorders in a short time. Interest in the method exploded. Among other things, the researchers behind it were voted to be among the most important people in health in the world. Bjarne Hansen has used much of the last few years to travel around to different countries to train new personnel from different healthcare systems. – We have a strict system for quality assurance. Fortunately, it seems that having good and stable results even though countries and cultures can be different, says the psychology professor. This week he has been at Harvard University in the USA, with which they have a collaboration. – Healthcare in different countries is more similar than we often think. It happens that we get to challenge our prejudices against different countries when we travel around, admits the psychology professor. news has previously told about Gunnar Rolland, who recovered from his obsessive-compulsive disorder after over sixty years. It is from an early round of treatment in Houston, Texas, with Solange Villalba, a female patient who, due to obsessive thoughts, among other things, wore gloves to protect herself from infection. Now she is free from suffering. – It was an overwhelming feeling of freedom. I still get goosebumps when I think about it. The treatment program was absolutely fantastic for me, she says to news. Solange Villalba had tried most things. But the obsessions had taken over his life. Among other things, she had to wear gloves to protect herself from infection. In 2019, she got to try “the Bergen Method” at home in Houston, Texas. She was helped to throw away the gloves. She managed to loosen her hair, which she was so afraid would end up in something contagious. – It was a feeling of enormous freedom. Terribly scary, but also absolutely fantastic. I am forever grateful for the treatment I received. Again she dared to touch her loved ones. Villalba says she manages to stay healthy today with the help of what she learned during the first few days of treatment. For Hansen, the ticket means a lot. Solange’s story is one of many. For Hansen and the other therapists, they provide motivation to continue the work. – It is an adventure, in a way. There are many therapists who are interested in using this. And very many people who have hope of getting well through a method developed in Bergen.
