Even if the Conservative Party makes a very good choice, it is far from certain that they will run away with the mayoral post. – It is open. There is a lot of dialogue that remains, I think, before we can put two lines under who will be mayor, says Ranum. The Labor Party hopes they will retain power Trondheim has been known as a red-green lighthouse. Here, mayor Rita Ottervik, and the Labor Party, have governed the city for 20 years. They get 24.2 percent support, a slight decrease of 0.8 percentage points from the election in 2019. The party’s mayoral candidate is satisfied. – We are happy that we are achieving the results, but you have to take them with a pinch of salt for now. We count votes throughout the evening, but it is clear that we have not been measured so highly by any opinion polls or forecasts so far in the election campaign and getting the highest numbers on the last day is what we want, says Emil Raaen. He has faith that there will still be a red-green majority in the city. – We will of course count up the results, but we have good hope of achieving good cooperation in the coming years to govern together with a broad red-green majority, we also want to talk to several partners, so we will do that in the coming days , says Raaen. Rita Ottervik was satisfied when the first numbers came in on election night. Dependent on partners Both the Labor Party and the Conservative Party are dependent on partners to secure a majority of 34 mandates in the city council. For the past four years, Labor has collaborated with the Center Party, the Socialist Left Party and the Green Party. But MDG has said in the election campaign that they are open to working with the Conservative Party if they get more attention for their policy from them. Both MDG and the Center Party to make bad choices. The MDG gets a support of 6.1 percent. This is a decrease of 4.3 percentage points from four years ago. The Center Party is also falling sharply. They only get a support of 2.0 percent. That is 5.1 percentage points less than they are now. – Regardless of who takes on the task of forming a majority, there will be tough negotiations to find a political basis.
