He sent us a picture, and it turned out to be a military grenade of the M34 type, says operations manager in the West police district, Helge Blindheim. It should be around 30 centimeters long, and there should be no risk of explosion. The police bomb squad has made an assessment of the image. The firing mechanism appears to have been removed, and as the grenade is now, it should be harmless, according to Blindheim. – We are present with a patrol until the Armed Forces come and collect it. We don’t want people to move it or touch it. The defense is on its way. A pedestrian lane has been blocked off at the site. – Traffic and passing must proceed as normal. It should be possible to both drive and walk past, says Blindheim.
