The opposition is leading in the polls. Prayut has ruled the country since leading a military coup in 2014, and was elected prime minister in a highly contested election in 2019. According to the polls, he is likely to lose to the opposition, which is led by the Pheu Thau party. The polling stations opened at 8 o’clock local time, corresponding to 3 o’clock in Norway. (NTB)
