A young man aged 19 has been arrested and charged with having left the girl in a helpless state. The man was remanded in custody for four weeks on Friday and charged with several drug offenses, violence against the police and carrying a knife in a public place. – He does not plead guilty. He has been interviewed by the police and explained himself. The man is very distraught that she is dead, says lawyer Karianne Kroken Sævereide to news. The police suspect that she and the accused man got drunk together, and that the accused left the scene when the girl did not wake up. The girl probably died of an overdose on Monday, the police say. – I can confirm that the accused is suspected of several drug offences, carrying a knife and violence against the police. Beyond that, I will not comment on the case, says police attorney Inger Marie Stople to Aftenbladet. The accused has said that prison is not the right place for him to be. He thinks admission to a psychiatric ward would be a better option.
