SV wants to stop new motorway projects – Nye Veier can spend the money on other projects – news Vestfold and Telemark – Local news, TV and radio

The government parties Ap and Sp met SV for new negotiations on a revised national budget in the Storting on Tuesday. Cuts in motorway projects are the most important issue for SV in the negotiations. Will scrap road projects SV wants to scrap or scale down these new projects to save the environment: E18 / E39 Outer ring road Kristiansand E6 Nedgård-Ulsberg-Berkåk-Vindåsliene Rv. 4 Hunndalen (Gjøvik) – Mjøsbrua E39 Mandal-Lyngdal east E39 Lyngdal west-Ålgård E18 Tvedestrand-Bamble Rv. 25 Hamar-Løten E18 Grimstad-Arendal E6 Moelv-Øyer E6 Korporalsbrua-Gyllan-Kvål E6 Åsen-Steinkjer The party has asked the government how big the savings will be if these motorway projects are shelved. The answer from the government is that there will be no savings. Nye Veier has received the money through a framework agreement and prioritises which projects are built. SV is surprised. SURPRISED: – We do not accept the premise that the government puts here in that there is no money to save. That is, of course, says Mona Fagerås, transport policy spokesperson for SV. – We believe that if a road project is shelved by the Storting, there should be money to be saved. It was a strange answer that there is no money to be saved, says transport policy spokesperson in SV, Mona Fagerås. She also sits on the Storting’s transport committee. Now the party calls for better political control. – Now we got proof that the Storting can not actually do that, and we think that is sensational, says Fagerås. Will change New Roads The Storting has adopted the framework agreement that the Ministry of Transport has with New Roads. SV will change the agreement with the company. – We believe that Nye Veier is so out of democratic control that even the Storting can not decide that projects should be scaled down. Then we have to look at the way the company is organized. It must of course be the case that if a project is shelved, we save that money, says Fagerås. SV demands in the negotiations with the government parties that there must be enough traffic base to build new four-lane highways. – We will turn the large sums from a four-field engine to more use of public transport and track. – The government has not concluded The system was laid down by the previous government and means that Nye Veier receives a framework support for investments that they use based on their assessments, points out Erling Sande (Sp), who heads the transport committee in the Storting. – We have said in the Hurdal platform that we will have stronger political control over road construction, and the government has not yet concluded on what changes will be made, he says. DO NOT CUT: Sp will not cut highway projects, but consider whether any can be scaled down, says leader of the transport and communications committee, Erling Sande (Sp). Photo: Bård Siem / news Sp does not agree with SV on stopping road projects, but would rather look at the design of the road projects. This means that not all projects need full width with four fields and 110 km / h. – We need roads in this country, so we do not go to the polls to scrap road projects. But there may be opportunities in looking at road standards. Do you have to build 110 km / h in all places, or can you build some places where the traffic is lowest with less speed and thus save money, topsoil and nature, he says. The Labor Party wants more political control The Labor Party also wants greater political control over the road projects. – We want a political management of projects, but now the situation is as it has been, namely that it is within Nye Veier’s decision-making authority, says parliamentary representative Jone Blikra (Labor), who also sits on the transport committee. – There is no reason to doubt the professional justifications for Nye, but the Labor Party wants to influence it more to a political extent. But we are not there yet, says parliamentary representative for the Labor Party, Jone Blikra in the transport committee.
