The government thus has a majority in the Storting for its proposal to amend the Subdivision Act. That move means that the state can carry out a referendum on dividing Kristiansand, even though the city council in Kristiansand has twice refused to carry out a referendum itself. The referendum is scheduled to take place next year if the bill is to be adopted. The residents of Søgne and Songdalen will be asked if they still want to be part of Kristiansand, or if they want to become their own municipalities. (NTB)
