The former skiing queen retired after the Olympic season last year, where she crowned a brilliant career with three golds. Now she can share that she is pregnant and expecting a child, together with her fiance Nils Jakob Hoff. – That is the greatest thing you can achieve. It surpasses all the golds I have won, so to speak, she says to news. – I think it’s very cool, and then I have to say that I think it’s a little scary. That you don’t quite know what you’re getting into. But that I’m really looking forward to it. I feel that a lot has happened in 2022, says Johaug. Johaug says she is “very excited” about what lies ahead. – I am used to managing my everyday life all by myself, and suddenly there is a completely new boss in the house. It’s a bit of joy mixed with horror, she says. TRIBUTES: Therese Johaug was praised by the public on her way to victory in the three-mile race in Holmenkollen last year, a couple of days after she had announced that she wanted to retire. For rush hour and lift trips throughout the summer. Feasting from March to August, and then it suddenly stopped, of course, in the autumn. It has been a very eventful year. I may not feel I could bring in more in 2022, says Johaug cheerfully. Although she has retired, Johaug has maintained an active lifestyle. She also wants to continue training during her pregnancy, and she says that another former ski queen has offered advice. – I’ve talked a lot with Marit (Bjørgen), so I’ve got some tips on what to look for and what I can train. I have received good follow-up from the people I have worked with, both at the Olympiatoppen and previously, she says. ADVICE AND TIPS: Marit Bjørgen and Therese Johaug were for many years at the top of the world together. Photo: Berit Roald / NTB scanpix Bjørgen is now a mother of two. She became a mother for the first time in December 2015, but returned for the 2016/17 season. There she won four golds, before following up with two golds in the Olympics the following year. Bjørgen then gave up and had her second child in the spring of 2019. When asked if a comeback might be appropriate for Johaug, she replies: – I don’t have an answer to that. The 34-year-old from Dalsbydga has worked as an expert in news’s cross-country skiing broadcasts this winter. She will continue to do so in the coming weeks as well. – I will still take part in the NM and Tour de Ski. The shape is nice. I was very tired at the start. It was unusual for me to be. Compared to many others I hear about, I have been very lucky, says Johaug. Medal wholesaler for a number of years Johaug broke through when, as an 18-year-old, she won bronze at the WC three-mile in Sapporo in 2007. The first Olympic gold of her career came when she was part of the winning team in the relay in 2010, before she won her first individual WC -gold when she won the three-mile in Holmenkollen in 2011. During her career there were a total of four Olympic golds and 14 World Cup golds, three overall victories in the World Cup and three victories in the Tour de Ski. She took a total of 82 victories in the World Cup. In 2016, Johaug tested positive for the banned substance klostebol. In the end, after the case was appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), she was banned for 18 months. This meant that she could not participate in the WC in Lahti in 2017 and the Olympics in Pyeongchang in 2018. She came back strongly after the ban and thus ended her career by winning 10, 15 and 30 kilometers in the Olympics in Beijing. For that, she is also nominated for both female athlete of the year and name of the year at the Sports Gala. Therese Johaug Name: Therese Johaug. Born: 25 June 1988 (age 34).
