When you have to renew your mobile, it is inevitable to ask the big question: do we continue to bet on the traditional format or encourage ourselves with a folding? This is a logical approach. Far from being an experimental rarity, folding devices are beginning to consolidate as a serious option, with solid arguments for those who seek something different without sacrificing power or quality.
Not all manufacturers have decided to get on the folding train, but Google did in 2023, and since then it has been refining its proposal. At the recent Made By Google event held today, the company unveiled the Pixel 10 Pro Fold: a smartphone that aims to secure a place in the premium market by combining two very clear attributes: resistance and performance.

Pixel 10 Pro Fold: Less Fragility, More Fluidity
If the Pixel 9 Pro Fold took a step forward with screen and photography improvements, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold refines just where it was needed. According to Google, this new model offers a more fluid experience, better visualization, and, above all, greater resistance.
Fragility has been one of the usual criticisms of folding smartphones, especially given their price point exceeding €1,000. In this case, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold has IP68 certification for water and dust resistance, along with enhanced fall protection. A crucial innovation is its new gearless hinge design, completely reworked to ensure over ten years of reliable folding.

The internal screen, dubbed Super AMOLED Flex, measures 8 inches and features reinforced ultrafine glass along with multiple layers of impact protection. On the external display, the bezels have been reduced, enhancing the visibility of its 6.4-inch screen. The device boasts a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, making it ideal for outdoor usage.
In terms of performance, this new Pixel introduces the G5 Tensor processor built on a 3-nanometer architecture, accompanied by 16 GB of RAM. Google claims that its TPU, crucial for AI functions, is now 60% more powerful, and the CPU has seen a 36% improvement compared to the previous model. Advances have also been made in its Image Signal Processor (ISP), promising better photographic outcomes.
As for the cameras, while there are no significant increases in resolution, the system has received fine tuning: a main 48 MP sensor, coupled with a 10.5 MP ultra-wide and a 10.8 MP telephoto lens. For selfies, each screen features a 10 MP sensor, enhancing user experience.
The battery also sees improvement, increasing from 4,650 mAh in the previous model to 5,015 mAh. This makes it one of the largest batteries available in a current folding phone. However, real-world testing is essential to determine its longevity.
Furthermore, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold incorporates Pixelsnap magnetic technology, akin to Apple’s MagSafe system. This feature enhances the precision and efficiency of Qi2 wireless charging, opening the door to a variety of compatible accessories like stands, wallets, and grips.
Additionally, similar to other devices launched today (Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro), it features automatic spam call detection, malware protection, and the Gemini assistant that now operates in live mode. This allows the assistant to highlight elements on the screen or even gauge our emotional state during phone conversations.
Among the latest features, real-time translation of phone calls is now available, maintaining the original voices. Additionally, Google introduced the Pixel Journal app designed to help users record thoughts and set goals with support.
In photography, software enhancements elevate user experience significantly. Features like Camera Coach leverage Gemini models to provide real-time guidance for taking photos, while Guided Frame can describe what the camera sees with precision, compatible with various scenes.
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is available for reservation in France and will launch on October 9 in Gray Quartz and Jade colors. The starting price for the 256 GB model is €1,899. Currently, there is no information regarding its availability in Spain or its potential pricing in the Spanish market.
