Stine Bredal Oftedal is celebrated – ends her career after the Olympics in Paris – Olympics Paris 2024

– Maybe I’m a little naive, but I’m so madly looking forward to it. It will be one of the best days of my life when she finally moves in and we can spend a lot of time together. We have waited seven years for this, so I am very happy, says the German national team player Rune Dahmke. The Norwegian handball girls are ready for their ninth semi-final in the context of the Olympics. That after they smashed Brazil 32-15 in the quarter-finals at the magnificent Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Lille. Stine Bredal Oftedal got a lot of rest in the match against Brazil, and in a couple of days there will be more rest for the Norwegian captain when she puts her handball shoes on the shelf after the Olympics. Norway meets Denmark in the semi-finals on Thursday at 4.30pm. – It’s a bit strange that she is going to quit. Last year she and Rune Dahmke (31) took their relationship a step further, when they got engaged. The 31-year-old currently plays handball for the German club Kiel together with national team player Harald Reinkind. So it’s a bit strange when you see her and understand that she’s going to quit, but I think her future is the best choice and I’m very happy that she’s again sacrificing a lot for our relationship. Having won the most Olympics in Paris, Stine Bredal Oftedal will be the last active handball player. Earlier this summer, she ended her club career by winning the championship with Györ, where she has played since 2017. SATISFYED: Stine Bredal Oftedal has won the most as an active handball player. In 2019 she was named the world’s best female handball player. – I’m just lucky that over many years I’ve been healthy, lucky and motivated. Everything has gone very smoothly so that I have been able to play absolutely everything and do everything I have dreamed and hoped for. I am incredibly grateful for that. For a long time she has known that enough is enough and she needed a break. – I want to be closer to those closest to me. The pressure and the chase, I feel fed up with that. Shelves by the teammates For the teammates, it will be tough to see that their captain will not be joining this winter’s EC championship. Photo: Beate Oma Dahle / NTB – I feel that almost every time you talk about this, you get a little bit moved. It’s very strange, says Camilla Herrem. She has played with Bredal Oftedal on the national team for 14 years. – It is quite a long time to be on the same team. So you have become very, very good friends and she is an extremely good friend who you talk to a lot outside of handball and things like that. So it will be very sad. She is supported by Nora Mørk. – At the same time, many of us are prepared for it. There is a time for everything. But it is clear, it can be both emotional and tough, says Nora Mørk. At the same time, they pay tribute to the 32-year-old for the effort she has put into the Norwegian national team. – There is a player who has only grown more and more in the role and has now been captain for many years and with good reason. She has been involved in moving a lot. Especially in terms of attack, but also a leader who we will miss. – Stine is certainly a person for whom I have a lot of respect. Both as a player on the field, but also not least as the person she is. I think there are a lot of people who will notice the difference in that she is awake. So it will be strange, says Herrem. Sander Sagosen, who is married to the sister of Stine Bredal Oftedal, believes that his sister-in-law will cope well with the transition to civilian life. FAMILY: Sander Sagosen and Rune Dahmke are not just good friends on the track. Sagosen is also married to the sister of Stine Bredal Oftedal. But she has stood for so much and been involved and experienced so much that she will be professional until the last second. New weekday Because it will be a new weekday when the Olympic flame in Paris is extinguished next weekend. Bredal Oftedal has not yet decided what the future will bring. – So I try to be on the offer side and see if there is anyone who wants me somewhere. She nevertheless rules out the possibility of becoming a handball coach. – Maybe not training. That’s the lifestyle I’m looking forward to. Not to travel and live where I want, the things there. So not that. The future husband can still reveal one thing about his new partner. DEBUT: A young Stine Bredal Oftedal made her debut on the Norwegian national team in 2010. Photo: Gorm Kallestad / NTB – She’s very good at cooking dinner, but now she’s very good at just about everything, so I’m not surprised by that. I don’t know what the favorite dish is, but we like to cook a lot of good food together and enjoy a glass of wine, and then it’s not so important what’s on the plate. But before that there are still several Olympic matches for the Norwegian captain. Because even though she has won almost everything in her career, the most rewarding part of everything is missing. Namely gold in the Olympics for Norway. – There is this one big goal that stands there and has stood there for a very long time. Published 06.08.2024, at 22.53 Updated 06.08.2024, at 22.57
