19 June 2024 at 13:21 Climbing accident in Svolvær: Elevation of person starts The police report a climbing accident on Fløyfjellet in Svolvær. The rescue helicopter is now on the scene and is starting to lift out the climber who has fallen. The person, in a climbing group of 6, has fallen approximately 8 metres, according to the police. Police and ambulance are on the scene at the foot of the mountain. They have no contact with the climber who has fallen as of now. Climbers on site will attempt to four the injured down, from a mountain ledge. The police say that they are currently unsure of the extent of the damage, but write that the person is awake and conscious. The SAR Queen rescue helicopter traveled to the site from Bodø, the Norwegian Central Rescue Center informs. The Svolvær Alpine Rescue Group has been notified.
