The extremely popular South Korean Netflix series “Squid Game” receives 14 nominations for the 74th edition of the Emmy Awards. The series, which has set viewer records all over the world, is the first non-English language series to be nominated in the category of best drama series, writes NTB. The American award is considered the TV series’ version of the Oscar award. Golden statuettes will be awarded to those who have excelled most in front of and behind the camera in the past year. The nominations were announced today. It was “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” star Melissa Fumero and comedian JB Smoove, known from “Curb Your Enthusiasm” who announced the nominations for this year’s awards ceremony. This is followed by the football comedy “Ted Lasso” and the drama comedy “The White Lotus”, both of which receive 20 nominations. Right behind is the commissioner «Hacks» with 17 nominations, the drama giant «Euphoria» gets 16. Only in the category of best supporting actor role «Succession» takes 3 nominations. The actual award ceremony will take place on 12 September. To be nominated for an Emmy Award, TV companies must submit applications for works and actors they want nominated. This year, there have been a record number of applications, writes CNBC.
