7 September 2023 at 20:07 Football: The U21 men opened the EC qualification with a 7-0 victory over San Marino Andreas Schjelderup scored a hat-trick when Norway U21 beat San Marino 7-0 away in the EC qualification on Thursday. It was a good evening for Norway’s stars Schjelderup and Isak Hansen-Aarøen, who did not get to play this summer’s U21 EC in Romania. Manchester United player Hansen-Aarøen also got on the scoresheet during some effective minutes for Norway at the end of the first half. After a somewhat clumsy Norwegian opening, things really caught fire offensively in the last quarter of an hour before the break. Schjelderup scored the redeeming 1-0 goal after neat Norwegian play in the 34th minute, and then slipped it behind San Marino goalkeeper Pietro Amici. 2-0 came at Sivert Mannsverk two minutes later. He pushed forward with the ball and swept it up at an angle from 18 meters away. Hansen-Aarøen increased to 3-0 in the last regular minute of play in the first half, while Schjelderup was in front again and made it 4-0 in extra time. It should also be mentioned that the dribbling wing Oscar Bobb, who recently made his debut for Manchester City, turned out to be a positive sign. He made a number of cheeky dribbles and had great preparation for the 3-0 goal. Amici prevented a bigger loss for San Marino with a series of good saves after the break. But he fell short against Schjelderup in the 83rd minute, when the winger broke free on the left and made it 5-0. Substitute Daniel Karlsbakk made it 6-0 in the 88th minute after great preparation by David Møller Wolfe. In overtime, Eskil Edh made it 7-0. The next game for Norway is played at home against Latvia next week. Ireland, Italy and Turkey are also in the pool. (NTB)
