Snow has been reported in Austlandet on 1 May – news Innlandet – Local news, TV and radio

– In the areas that receive the most precipitation, it looks like we could end up with between five and ten centimeters of snow, says Martin Granerød, who is the meteorologist on duty. He says there is a low pressure that will pass through southern Norway on May 1, and with the temperature still relatively low, it is expected that the precipitation will come as sleet and snow in some places. This is the best chance to see on the night of May 1 and in the morning hours. – In the coastal areas, this precipitation quickly turns to rain, but slightly higher up, not particularly higher than 100 to 200 metres, so we expect that there may be periods when snow settles on the ground, says Granerød. SNOW: Yr writes on its pages that on Monday 1 May there is a yellow warning for snow in Austlandet. The snow will most likely settle in the area that lies a bit in the valley area and higher-lying areas, but also in the lowlands it is expected that there may be a few centimeters of snow in vegan areas. PRECIPITATION: On-duty meteorologist Martin Granerød says the precipitation will come as snow on the night of May 1. Photo: Kamilla Pedersen/MET It is relatively far south in Austlandet that most come. The further north you go, the less precipitation there will be, and then you will also get less snow. Granerød says a town southwest of Mjøsa, further inland in Viken and Telemark are the areas that get the most. – There are those who can get between five and ten centimetres, but at the same time there is a front that is in motion here. We will probably see local differences, says Granerød. SKIING: Those who haven’t put their skis away can enjoy even more snow on the night of May 1. Here from Sjusjøen on April 28. Photo: Roar Berntsen / news Avalanche danger too There has been a moderate avalanche danger reported in large parts of the country on the last day of April and 1 May. On Sunday 30 April, a significant avalanche danger has been reported for Ofoten, Trollheimen, Jotunheimen and Indre Parish. Considerable avalanche danger has also been reported on 1 May for Jotunheimen and Indre Parish. – For Jotunheimen and Indre Parish, there is a significant risk of avalanches due to a combination of pack snow, but also that there is a persistent weak layer high in the snow cover that can cause avalanches. FOLLOW: Supervisor Solveig Kosberg at the avalanche warning at NVE advises people to follow the warning when they go out for a walk. Photo: Solveig Kosberg This is what supervisor Solveig Kosberg says about the avalanche warning at NVE. – In Trollheimen and Ofoten, there is wind in combination with fresh snow, which means that there is a slightly greater risk of avalanches than in other parts of the country. Where snow comes in combination with wind, it will settle in unstable jib snow flakes in the area. There, the snow will be unstable for a little while before it gets stuck. – In the Leo area at high altitude, one should be careful when moving on steep terrain. Kosberg advises people to think that the snow that is lying now is cold winter snow, not stable spring snow. And that they should know when they are in avalanche terrain, and avoid it if they can. – I advise people to use the varsom app and the steepness map there, so that you are aware of where the avalanche terrain is and can witness choices. Read the updated notice every day.
