The company states that none of the plant’s permanent employees will be laid off or dismissed as a result of the shutdown. The reason for the shutdown is today’s extremely high electricity prices of over six kroner per kilowatt hour. In the fourth quarter of this year, Alcoa Lista’s energy situation will improve. Alcoa Lista and Statkraft have agreed on an arrangement, entered into on commercial terms, which gives Alcoa Lista better and more predictable energy costs through the winter and into next year.
