The police in Orlando are investigating a shooting incident in the city center, in the middle of the Halloween celebration. This is reported by Fox35 in Orlando. People were out and about on Orange Avenue, as they tend to do when there are celebrations in the city. Suddenly they started running. The police ran in the opposite direction of the crowd. The police confirm that two people have died, and six others have been injured, in two shooting episodes. The shooting episodes happened a few minutes apart in two different places in the same area. Suspect is 17 years old All the injured are receiving health care. The victims are between 19 and 39 years old, but have not been identified. The suspected perpetrator is a 17-year-old boy. He is alive and being questioned, says the police chief to Fox News. The boy is said to have been in possession of a handgun when he was arrested. The motivation for the shooting is currently unknown. – He practically walked down the city centre, into the street and did what he did, says the police chief. The arrested person was also arrested in 2023, but then for aggravated theft. Interviewing witnesses News channel Fox35 shows footage of a large police presence in the area. At a press conference, the police say they are still gathering information and interviewing witnesses. Orlando police confirmed at 02.17am local time that they were investigating a shooting in the city centre. The shooting must have started at 01.07.
