The police in Hamburg confirm on Twitter that several people are dead, and several are seriously injured. The RTL website writes that six people are dead and that several are injured. When the police arrived at the scene, they reportedly heard a shot from one of the upper floors of the building. The police confirm to RTL that they found a person in the upper part of the building. There are currently no signs that a perpetrator is still on the run. The emergency services are more likely to assume that the shooter is among the dead, writes RTL. Residents in the area are said to have received an SMS notification from the authorities about “extreme danger”. They are asked not to leave their apartments. In the message, the police write to the residents: “Seek cover in a building as soon as possible”, and “Only call us in an extreme emergency, so that the telephone capacity does not collapse”.
