– One gets irritated, because I had prepared well for this exam, says Jøran Grønfur, student at Førde secondary school in Sunnfjord. Around 400 pupils were evacuated after a fire started in a toilet at the large school in Førde. The fire alarm went off and the sprinkler system was activated in parts of the building. Several of the graduating students were in the process of taking the oral exam, a grade that can mean a lot for the diploma. When parts of the school were flooded after the sprinkler system, several students were told that they would not be able to complete their exams. – I could get a good grade, but now the whole exam is canceled instead and I don’t get a grade on the diploma, says Grønfur, who was going to sit the oral exam in physics. A total of 200 students were to have their exams today, the vast majority of them passed as usual, while around 15 students had their exams cancelled. Photo: Oddleif Løset / news He says that the reason why 15 students did not take their exams was because the science room was damaged by the water from the sprinkler system. – It was not proper to use those rooms and then a few students get hurt, says Bryne, and assures that the students do not need to prepare again: – They do not need to take the exam again, as this is an incident that no one have control over or can be loaded for, says Bryne. Start in a toilet The police and fire service were notified at 10.41 about smoke from a toilet at the school.
