8 February 2023 at 14:49 Foreign Ministry: More Norwegians settled in Turkey The Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that several Norwegian citizens have settled in Turkey. – In the last 24 hours, several Norwegian citizens we were worried about have come to their senses. The numbers are fortunately going down, but the situation is still unclear and much remains unclear. We continue to follow the situation closely, says press guard Mathias Rongved in the Foreign Ministry. He states that there are still a small number of Norwegian citizens they cannot account for in Turkey. – These are uncertain figures and we therefore do not wish to be more specific. Since Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has tried to get in touch with Norwegian citizens who may have been in the affected area, after receiving messages of concern from relatives. Now the embassy in Ankara has confirmed that several of these are safe. – The number we cannot account for is therefore lower today than yesterday, says Rognved. The Foreign Service is in contact with around 20 Norwegian citizens in Turkey who need assistance. Many people need an emergency passport to be able to return to Norway.
