A man in his late 20s has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison after the fatal accident on the E18 near Holmlia on 11 August 2023, writes VG. A total of four people were in the car when the accident happened. A 15-year-old boy lost his life when the car ran off the road and ended up on its roof. Another was critically injured, and two people slightly injured. The police tried to stop the car several times before the accident, because it was driving too fast. According to one of the passengers who testified in court, the driver did not have a driving licence, but was soon to get it back, and therefore did not want to stop for the police. The speed must have been up to 250 kilometers per hour, according to the passenger. “The court believes that there are no mitigating circumstances of importance in the case. The defendant has admitted criminal guilt and expresses remorse and shame, and he is having a very difficult time after the accident,” says the judgment from the Oslo district court.
