Semester start in Australia is in jeopardy. But only one in three planes is with striking SAS pilots – news Rogaland – Local news, TV and radio

– Traveling from family and friends for half a year is a bit painful in the first place. When you get this up, it is very awkward, says Marie Jørgensen. She is studying at the University of Bergen. Next semester she will be on an exchange to Australia. To reach the start of the semester on Monday 18 July in Brisbane, she booked a flight until Sunday 10 July. The only problem is that the flight starts with a SAS flight from Oslo to Copenhagen. From there, the trip continues with Qatar Airways to Doha and the destination Brisbane. That’s why she and her family drive to Copenhagen. Hoping to start the trip there. But it is not safe to go. Ticket purchased from booking company The company she booked the trip from, Bravofly, has informed her that it is not possible to check in in Copenhagen. As SAS cancels the trip from Oslo, the entire trip will be canceled. And the SAS cancellation will not be made until 24 hours before departure. news knows that the same problem has arisen for several others who have booked a flight from a booking company where several airlines are involved in one and the same trip. – When I enter the departure on SAS’s website, it says that the flight will probably be canceled due to the strike. It is a bit frustrating that Bravofly in a way keeps it open yet, says Jørgensen. She has had both electronic contact with Bravofly, and also talked to the company on the phone. And sat in line for several hours. Bravofly has not responded to news’s inquiry to customer service in Norway. It is not possible to find further contact information on the websites the company refers to the press. The Consumer Council warns The Consumer Council confirms that there is a risk of losing the entire trip when the first plane does not leave. Consumer lawyer Thomas Iversen in the Consumer Council. Photo: The Consumer Council – In such a situation, you will only be compensated for the first journey, but there is hardly much hope for the rest. You may have to rebook yourself, so that you reach the next flight in the program, says lawyer Thomas Iversen in the Consumer Council. He believes this makes the situation extra difficult when the ticket is purchased through booking portals. – For passengers who are in this situation, it is very important to check if they have a regular ticket. Then the company that printed the ticket will have a responsibility. But many intermediaries or booking portals put together journeys that are not coherent, and then you are just as far. The Consumer Council recommends that you buy tickets directly from the airlines. – The current situation is demanding, and which rights apply in different situations, can be clarified in the Transport Appeals Board in the future, says Iversen. Difficult situation Marie Jørgensen hopes she will arrive by plane from Copenhagen. Photo: Kristoffer Apall / news – For me this is quite hopeless. It is a big process to move to a completely new continent, so it is comfortable to have a couple of days to get ready before school starts. On the way to Copenhagen, she still has no idea if she can get on the Qatar plane or not. She can only hope. – I may have to order a new ticket a few days later. My parents have already booked a hotel, first in Oslo, in case they manage to get us on another flight. We have also booked hotels in Copenhagen, she says.
