11 September 2023 at 04:08 Security failure and breach of privacy at the National Security Authority A security failure at the National Security Authority (NSM) has meant that over time employees have been able to read assessments and sensitive information in employment. Dagens Næringsliv writes that an internal routine failure has meant that all employees have been given access to detailed assessments of applicants for new positions. It has lasted for ten months until August this year. – All appointment cases have been stored with the wrong access code in our archive system, so that the files in the cases have been possible to open/read for all employees, NSM writes in a notice of deviation to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority. Personnel, education and the applicants’ experience have also been available. NSM informs the newspaper that they are in the process of informing jobseekers in the relevant cases about the breach of privacy. – Of course this should not happen. It is particularly unfortunate at NSM, which works with an increased safety culture in Norwegian businesses every single day. This is a case we should have avoided, says department director Ã…shild Hauge Egerdal. (NTB)
