29 December 2023 at 21:11 Security Council in emergency meeting on Ukraine tonight The UN Security Council will discuss Russia’s latest attack on Ukraine on Friday evening after the Ukrainians requested an emergency meeting. At least 31 civilians were killed and 160 people wounded in the biggest Russian airstrike since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine began two years ago. Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba says on X/Twitter that Ukraine and over 30 other UN members have requested that the Security Council meet to discuss the attack. On the Security Council’s website it is stated that they will discuss “the maintenance of peace and security in Ukraine” at a meeting at 10pm Norwegian time on Friday evening. (NTB)
