The small sausage kiosk at Vollane in Horten was supposed to have the best day of the year during the Fireworks Concert. It didn’t turn out that way… Photo: Robert Hansen / news During the weekend, it went from bangs to salutes, thanks to coverage in the media and great late summer weather. – There have been an incredible number of people who have contacted me in recent days, says Finstad. Both individuals and associations have been hunting for cheap firework sausages. Photo: Robert Hansen / news – There was even a fellow from Southern Norway who wanted to send the sausages to Ukraine. – There has simply been a queue for sausages in front of the wagon. I feel that many people came to support me, says Finstad. Now all the surplus sausages from the canceled Fireworks Festival have been torn away. Must order new sausages(!) Sales took off like a rocket, and Finstad’s sausages were sold out an hour before closing time on Sunday. – Some customers had cycled all the way from Åsgårdstrand. They were unfortunately disappointed that the sausage cooker was empty. Actually, the season for the beach kiosk was supposed to be over this week, but high pressure over Eastern Norway at the weekend, and good weather forecasts for the rest of September, have meant that the cart will continue to stay open for a few more weeks. – So now I actually have to go out and buy more sausages, Finstad says with a laugh. – How has this experience been? – There has been a lot of trouble, and a lot of management. But it’s incredibly nice that people have supported me in this complicated situation. Next year we may have to be a little more careful with our purchases, admits the sausage seller.
