Sandra Borch writes in a post on Facebook that she has decided to complain about news to the Press’ Professional Committee (PFU). The reason, she writes, is that, according to Borch, news has carried out ethnic scrutiny of her and her family. The background to the complaint is an article that in 2013 Borch wanted to join the Sámi Parliament, but was complained about for not being Sámi. Borch did not want to be interviewed in the case, but responded by email. – I believe that news’s working method in this case is very poor and that the state-funded public broadcaster shows a total lack of respect for our ethnicity and identity, she writes. Broadcasting manager Vibeke Fürst Haugen has told Journalisten that she stands behind the ethical assessments. Borch reacts to the fact that Haugen did not stand up for a debate against her earlier in the week. Robin Mortensen, who is a project editor in news’s editorial department for investigative journalism, says they are “taking note of the complaint” and that they are looking forward to having the matter dealt with in the PFU.
