– It was very hard, says Sanderfjord’s captain, Sander Moen Foss. Over 14,000 spectators made the trip to Brann Stadium on Monday evening to see Brann play against Sandefjord in the Eliteserien – a match where the home team was a clear favourite. – Defending for 90 minutes is not fun, but once we get there, we do damn well, says Moen Foss. What the spectators got to see was a Brann team that dominated the whole match, but stood firm against a compact and defensive Sandefjord team. – That it will be 0-0 today shows a big change in Sandefjord, and we have to be satisfied with that, says the captain. Photo: NTB – Frustrating – We have full control of the game, but it is very frustrating that we cannot create the big chances. That’s what Brann striker Bård Finne says. For him, it is not surprising that there are matches like this where teams settle down – and that there is learning in that. – There will be more matches like this, he says. Sandefjord coach Hans Erik Ødegaard praises the team after the match. – We defend with impressive will and guts, he says. Straight into the attack, Brann opened the game best, and immediately put pressure on Sandefjord, who went into a defensive position early on. It resulted in an early double chance for Brann, but which the away team was able to save. This was also the picture for the rest of the match. After around 64 minutes played, Ole Didrik Blomberg was stamped in the crotch by Frederic Bikoro. The referee blew a free kick to Brann in a good position outside the 16-metre area and showed the yellow card to Sandefjord’s number five. Mathias Rasmussen had a try, but shot the ball over the goal. Brann continued the pressure on Sandefjord all the way into overtime, without it paying off. Brann striker Bård Finne is not surprised that teams that meet Brann lay low. Brann changed the team From the victory against Rosenborg, Brann made one change to the team ahead of today’s match. Center back Japhet Sery Larsen was replaced by Fredrik Pallesen Knutsen to rest the former. Sandefjord, on the other hand, was unchanged from the last match. After tonight’s draw against Sandefjord, Brann now stands with 11 points and is currently in 2nd place. Sandefjord has six points in total. This is how the teams were on Monday evening: Fire: Dyngeland, Crone, Pallesen Knudsen, Kristiansen, Møller Wolfe, Horn Myhre, Heltne Nilsen, Rasmussen, Blomberg, Finne, Wassberg. Sandefjord: Keto, Loftesnes-Bjune, Taaje, Foss, Egeli, Ayer, Ottosson, Bikoro, Dunsby, Tveter, Al-Saed.
