The emergency services responded to a report of a gas leak in connection with excavation work in Elvegata in the center of Sandnes. According to the South-West police district, it is probably natural gas, but it is uncertain which one. It could be methane gas, says the operations manager. All blocking measures and evacuations are being lifted now, the police report on X. The police closed access in affected streets and the safety zone was set to 100 metres, starting at Elvegata 27. The police also evacuated the Mathallen and the restaurant Olivia. Residents did not have to evacuate, but people are asked to keep windows and ventilation closed.
