Ruweyda hopes for answers about her missing brother – news Troms and Finnmark

Now his sister hopes that the police can give the family information about what happened. – It has been two very tough years, but I hope that one day I will find him. That’s what keeps me going, says Ruweyda Dayib Mohamud (25). The press conference starts at 5 p.m.: – It was a disgusting feeling, says Ruweyda about what the police told her at the beginning of this week: They wanted to dig for her missing brother. The work started at the sports hall on the so-called Prairie in Hammerfest on Wednesday. On Thursday, Kripos came to the scene with a dog to assist. As recently as April, the police said they were on the ground. They kept all possibilities open: Abdullahi’s disappearance could be voluntary, he could have taken his own life, been the victim of an accident – or the victim of something criminal. On Wednesday, the police stated that the latter was most likely. Dog handler Bjørn-Cato Hjemsæter and the crime detection dog “Ylvis” are searching for missing Abdullahi Dayib Mohamud in Hammerfest. If he is lying there, it is better to know than not to know. This is my mentality right now. Ruweyda is the oldest in the group of eight siblings. She says that she lived in Hammerfest before she traveled to Stavanger to study. When her little brother disappeared, aged 21, she moved back. – I could not continue my life without knowing where my brother is or what happened to him. I’m here until I find him. – I can’t just break down without knowing where he is or what has happened to him. Abdullahi Dayib Mohamud came from Somalia to Hammerfest in 2011, around 12 years old. Two years ago he disappeared. Now she hopes that the family will at least be certain. – If you have someone in the family who has died, you can start having a proper funeral, and you can have a period where you are in mourning. Then you can begin to heal and continue in life, because you know that death is something that happens to everyone. But not knowing is the hardest part.
