Riksveg 5 open again after a train blocked the road – news Vestland

It was at 2.17pm that the police received a report of the accident. No one was reported to be injured. The wagon train was standing across the road with the front in the ditch on one side and the trailer well out in the ditch on the other side. One lane opened at 18.30 and the police directed the traffic past. A little after 8 p.m. the wagon train is gone and the road is completely open. Riksveg 5 through Fjærland is the main road between Indre Sogn and Sunnfjord. When that road is closed, there are no local detours. If you are going between Sogndal and Skei, which takes a little over an hour to drive, your options are few. The fastest detour route is to drive beyond the Sognefjord, take the ferry between Hella and Dragsvik and then drive to Gaularfjellet. It takes almost three hours. Bilbergar was at the site, but reported that a crane truck was needed to lift the train. As a result, the waiting time was even longer before the road could open. MORE QUEUES: There are, naturally enough, queues on both sides of where the accident happened. Photo: Jo Marius Bøyum Bøyabreen
