At 08.27 on Friday, the police received a report of a serious situation at Hagebyen school in Harstad in Sør-Troms. The police moved out and reported control of the situation at 08.40. At 10.28, the police state that there must have been a threatening situation at the school. The police write in a press release that the school reported to them that a student allegedly displayed what looked like a firearm and allegedly made threats. Two air pistol-type weapons were subsequently found, and the police believe these are connected to the incident. – We understand that this was a frightening situation for both pupils, staff and parents. The police quickly got the situation under control. We will now investigate the case to map out what has happened and the background to it, says police station chief Frank-Magne Sletten. Weapon-like object The principal at Hagebyen school, Magne Johansen, informs news that some students must have observed a person with a weapon-like object. He says the situation has been clarified and that they are running the school as normal. – It was an isolated incident, and the situation is under full control, says Johansen in a press release. The police report that they have control over the perpetrator of the threat in question.
