A major search operation was launched after the police received a report that a watercraft without a driver had been seen in the sea in Skaun municipality in Trøndelag. Emergency services, the rescue helicopter, the air ambulance and the rescue boat were put on the mission. The police were notified just before 6.30pm on Saturday – We received a report that someone had seen a jet ski with a person, and that shortly afterwards the jet ski was seen without a driver, says operations manager at the police in Trøndelag, Kirsten Bergstrøm. The main rescue center coordinated the rescue operation. Now the police believe that it may also be something other than a watercraft that has been observed. We have no control over this, and if anyone knows more about this, we want them to report it to us on 02800, said Bergstrøm. The search was fully underway around 7pm on Saturday evening. According to news’s reporter at the scene, the police told them that they had received a report about a watercraft on the lake, but that they had not seen it themselves. Just before eight o’clock they were still searching. The rescue company sent two of their vessels to the scene. In addition, one of the police boats took part in the action. A rescue helicopter from Ørlandet assisted in the mission. – We have both the Norwegian Air Ambulance and Sar-Queen in helicopters, the fire boat and the police boat out on the fjord.
