The police release the names in consultation with the next of kin. Roar Henning Stein and Inger Eline Gaundal Stein were natives of Overhalla municipality in Trøndelag. They were passengers in the helicopter that crashed in a field between the center of Verdal and Stiklestad on Tuesday morning. The pilot is described as seriously injured and has been sent to hospital. There was also a dog in the helicopter that is alive and taken care of by a veterinarian. Crisis team activated Mayor of Overhalla, Hege Kristin Kværnø Saugen (Sp), says the incident is tragic. – Overhalla is a small municipality where most people know most people, so it quickly becomes very close to many people, she says. – But thoughts always go to those who have been hit the hardest. Our main focus is looking after relatives and survivors. Saugen says that the municipality’s crisis team has been activated and that they have a close dialogue with relatives. – An incredible number of emotions are being processed now, and it is important that we assist in the ways we can. Rescue crews were quickly on the scene after the accident was reported. There was a lot of fog in the area when the crash occurred. According to a neighbor in the area, visibility was very poor at the scene. The area around the accident has been cordoned off. All agencies responded to the accident. Leisure trip The helicopter belonged to Midtnorsk Helikopterservice, which has not yet commented on the case. The helicopter trip was a private mission and is described by the police as a “leisure trip”. It is not known what caused the accident. The Norwegian Air Accident Investigation Board and forensic experts are currently investigating. The helicopter took off from Verdal.
