– I’ve always wanted to live in a house covered in corrugated iron, says Cox to The Washington Post. Tuesday. The 28-year-old British artist has followed his childhood dream and turned his home into a work of art covered in black drawings. – It is like a living work of art, he says to the American newspaper. 9,000 liter measurement In 2019, Cox bought the house with 13 bedrooms located in Kent in the south-east of England. He got help from family and friends to measure the entire house to a blank canvas. It took him three years to draw doodles on everything from the ceiling to door lids, doors, lampshades, bathtubs, chairs and duvet covers. Even the roasting plate is covered in frills. He is unsure whether it will work now, he told the BBC on Monday. – I’m not sure if I can use it now that we’ve painted and drawn doodles on it, he says to the British state channel. He has been an artist most of his life. His art has been sold for high sums. At an auction in Tokyo in August 2020, the work “Spring” was sold for over 1 million dollars, writes The Value. – Ever since I was little, drawing doodles has been the best thing I know. Artist Sam Cox says he is looking for a bigger canvas to draw on, and has a dream to cover an entire street in doodles one day. It took a bit of persuasion to get permission, says Cox to The Washington Post. When he draws, he tries to avoid planning the doodles. – My mind has a tendency to wander, and then I end up drawing all sorts of weird things, he tells the newspaper and adds: – I relax and let my hand do the work. Could you live in a house covered in tinsel? Yes absolutely. No, never in my life. Maybe, but then with a little less frills. Show result – It’s relaxing Every single room in the house has a different theme, and every single doodle is unique. – The bedroom was actually the first room I started drawing in, Cox told the BBC. Now, when the project is finished, Cox and his wife are scheduled to move in and live in the house. They don’t think all the frills are distracting to look at. – We actually think it’s relaxing, says his wife Alena Cox to the AP news agency. The project started in September 2020, and was finished a couple of days ago.
