23 August 2022 at 17:15 Rejects the appeal – the charge after the Oslo shooting is compulsorily committed The Borgarting Court of Appeal has rejected Zaniar Matapour’s appeal against the Oslo district court’s decision on compulsory observation. It has been decided that a full forensic psychiatric examination will be carried out on Matapour, who is charged after the shooting in the center of Oslo on 25 June where two people were killed and 21 injured. It was Nettavisen that reported this first. The Oslo district court decided in mid-July that Matapour should be placed under compulsory observation in Bergen, before the accused later agreed to speak to the experts. The 43-year-old had his first meeting with the experts at the end of July, but last week the police wrote in a press release that the forensic psychiatric experts want a forced observation of the accused. The reason given is that the cooperation with him in prison has not provided a sufficient basis for an assessment of his sanity. Matapour then appealed the decision on compulsory observation to the Court of Appeal, but now Borgarting has rejected this appeal. (NTB)
