Refused to borrow a room at Deichman Bjørvika – news Oslo og Viken – Local news, TV and radio

5 May 2023 at 16:44 Refused to borrow a room at Deichman Bjørvika Legatum Publishing is not allowed to borrow a room in Oslo’s main library after all. The publisher was to borrow a room at Deichman Bjørvika together with the controversial French writer Renaud Camus next week. The author is best known for being behind the term “The great change”. The term has been described as a nationalist, far-right conspiracy theory. The employees and several politicians have been critical of the event. Legatum, for its part, believes that they have the right to use the library like everyone else. Library manager Knut Skansen justifies the refusal by saying that there will be a lot of unrest in the library. – I have to make a balance between Legatum’s reservation of the room for its event, and consideration for the estimated 1,000-1,100 other users of the library who will be present at this time, says Skansen. Skansen believes that security measures around the event, combined with demonstrations, will disturb the other visitors to the library.
