Red will support the proposal to use Flytoget during rush hour – Greater Oslo

– The regular trains are full to Oslo during rush hour. – Now we are opening the air trains to all travellers, who want to make it easier to travel by public transport to work, says Marie Sneve Martinussen. Rødt’s party leader, who is a parliamentary representative from Akershus, adds that this will ensure that the train capacity is utilized as best as possible. The problem with the demand was that the four parties did not have a majority in the Storting. They must bring either Red or the trio MDG, KrF and Patient Focus. Now Rødt replies that they will secure a majority for the proposal. – This is the single most important measure to quickly improve the traffic situation locally in Asker and Bærum. This means that more people can take the train during the periods when the pressure is greatest. It will also make everyday life easier for commuters between Lillestrøm and Oslo, says Martinussen. Standing again on the platform Today, the air trains do not have the opportunity to carry ordinary passengers, but must be exclusively reserved for air passengers to and from Gardermoen. Photo: Bård Nafstad / news This means, for example, that it is not allowed to take the Flytoget from Sandvika or Lillestrøm to Oslo S. At the same time, the regular trains are packed during rush hour. Especially after the public transport area on the E18 was closed to electric vehicles, there have been herring in a barrel on many trains. SV’s Balder Alvær Olafsen proposed in May to use the air trains as a crisis measure. Not before 2028? When Flytoget’s doors can open to ordinary travelers is currently unclear. This despite the fact that the government has decided to merge Flytoget and Vy from the turn of the year. Flytoget will continue as a subsidiary, but the goal is to integrate the train service until 2028. That’s over three more years. For the travellers, integration will also mean that the Flytog ticket will cost the same as the Ruter ticket on the train. Transport Minister Jon-Ivar Nygård could not say in October when the train service would be shared. – No, we have to spend a little more time on that, but the process starts now, Nygård told news. MUST USE TIME: Transport Minister Jon-Ivar Nygård. Photo: Bård Nafstad / n14859 – Sooner means sooner Marie Sneve Martinussen envisions that Flytoget can become a regular commuter train as soon as possible. – Soonest means soonest. Flytoget is a state-owned company. The advantage of public railway operation is that changes can happen quickly, if there is only the will to do so. So I hope it will be in place by the New Year, and preferably before, she says. Undecided about other proposals Putting the Flytoget into use was just one of several proposals to improve traffic in and out of Oslo that several parties in the Storting proposed this week. There was also a desire for electric cars with two or three on board to be allowed to use the public transport area west of Oslo. Red has not yet decided on the other four other proposals on the table from the right and SV. It will happen before the Storting considers the case on 14 November. – We are considering all measures that can improve the travel situation for those who live in Asker and Bærum. It is obvious that things are working too badly now, says Martinussen. Published 08.11.2024, at 12.54 Updated 08.11.2024, at 12.57 p.m
