6 November 2023 at 08:49 Record high interest income for the banks in the third quarter High interest has given the banks record income in the first three quarters of the year. Statistics from Statistics Norway show this. The banks added up to a total of NOK 95.8 billion in net interest income in the first three quarters of this year. This is an increase of 30 percent from the same period last year. In addition, it is also the highest net interest that has been measured in the statistics at the end of a third quarter, ever. Both the banks’ interest income and interest costs have increased sharply in the last two years. The total interest income amounted to NOK 247.1 billion in the first three quarters of the year, and the interest costs amounted to NOK 151.3 billion. The banks’ interest income is still significantly higher than interest costs, but the percentage increase in interest costs is higher than the increase in interest income at the end of the third quarter.
