The dress rehearsal for tonight’s Eurovision semi-final did not turn out as our representative Alessandra hoped for. The technique did not help her. And she admits that it gives a slightly bad feeling ahead of the competition. – Of course you get stressed and a little more nervous. Because you are doing your job, which is to sing, rehearse, deliver emotion and choreography. She adds that she will remember that Eurovision is a fantastic party to be a part of. – I will continue to do what I can, sing and make shows and be myself. And I’m going to enjoy myself. Because this is created to be fun, we should be united in music. And music is fun! The day I don’t see it, I’ll find another job. Many of the big favorites to win the final on Saturday take part in this first semi-final. The biggest favorite is Loreen, who has already won the competition previously with Euphoria in 2012. With her artistic and magnificent stage show, and a modern pop song, she is the one that the betting companies have the most faith in. Alessandra was presented at the opening ceremony along with 36 other participants in Liverpool. Finnish rap can bring success But there are several who are seen as hot favourites. Few would perhaps think that happy rap in Finnish could be a recipe for victory, but the Finnish contribution is soaring up the bookmakers’ lists, and is in a clear second place. The song is called Cha-cha-cha, and can take up the legacy of other winning songs with slightly silly titles, “Boom-bang-a-bang,” “Ding-a-dong” and “La la la”. But it’s not just the likely winning entries that get attention. Croatia’s song starts with the text line “Mamma bought a tractor”, and they serve both opera, rock, space rockets and a pink military march with a man in lipstick. With the exception of the years 2007, 2011 and 2016, we have reached the final. And three times we have gone all the way to the top, with Bobbysocks (1985), Secret Garden (1995) and Alexander Rybak (2009). That is why Alessandra carries the expectations of an entire nation on her shoulders.
